Hang Tight

Hangman with faces on the board — claim a letter, get a viewer down

Category: Word · Players: free-for-all · Status: Beta

The Hang Tight stage mid-round, with claimed letters on the board and a viewer held up by balloons beside it
Hang Tight mid-round: claimed letters carry the face of whoever called them

Hangman for a live chat. A brand name goes up as blanks, and one of your viewers is pegged up above it. Chat calls letters: the first to call a letter claims it, and their avatar sits on that square for the rest of the round, so the alphabet ends up a record of who risked what. Six wrong calls and the round is lost. Anyone can type the whole answer at any point.

Gameplay

1
A name goes up

The mask shows one blank per letter, with word breaks kept. The category is above it, and the scene beside the board shows who the room is getting down and how many chances are left.

2
Claim a letter

Type a single letter in chat — no command. The first call on a letter takes that square. A hit turns over every position that letter fills and scores one point per square. A miss scores nothing and costs the room a peg, with your face on the square that cost it.

3
Or solve it

Type the whole name at any moment. A solve scores every square still hidden, so solving a blank board is worth the whole word and solving with one square left is worth one. A wrong full-name guess costs nothing.

4
The round ends

Three ways: the name is fully turned over by letters, someone solves it, or the sixth peg goes. The answer is shown either way, and the host advances.

There is no elimination. A viewer arriving mid-set starts scoring from the next letter they land.

Why misses are capped

Twenty-six squares and a room of hundreds could claim the whole alphabet in seconds. The cap is what stops that: the room shares a fixed number of wrong calls per round, six unless you change it, so every miss is paid for by everyone. A wrong letter with your face on it is the moment the game is built around. A small room can afford more slack; a huge one less.

The scene

The drawing beside the board is the counter. Each round picks one:

  • League — TikTok’s Creator League page with the viewer’s face on it: their league badge, six fragments under it, and a line in the app’s own words. A miss turns a fragment hollow. Six misses and they are demoted a league.
  • Balloons — the viewer held up by six balloons over open water. A miss pops one and they sink a step. Six misses and they go in.

A solve keeps them where they are. Both drawings count down whatever Misses allowed is set to.

What chat types

Letters are read through the same filter-evasion strip as every other game, so .e counts as e.

The round ceiling for a category is the size of its bank; the setup form shows it when a category is picked.

Scoring

  • A letter pays one point per square it turns over.
  • A solve pays one point per square still hidden when it lands. A solve that arrives by the last letter pays nothing extra: that square was already paid for by the claim.
  • The most points across the set wins; ties are shipped as co-winners.
  • Wins are tracked per streamer and feed avatar ring tiers.
